TORQUAY United Community Sports Trust would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to our valued sponsors of the Under 13 Girls team for the 2019/20 season.
The team, which was formed in 2018, compete in the Devon Girls Football League against teams from Torbay, Exeter and the wider South Devon region and have made a very encouraging start to the new season, beating Ottery St Mary in the opening game and losing narrowly to last season’s top two, Crediton and Buckland Athletic.
“We are extremely grateful to both Samuels Solicitors and Harrier LLC, who have both been incredibly generous with their sponsorship of our Under 13 Girls team,” said Jamie McInnes, Manager of Torquay United Community Sports Trust.
“The team has worked very hard on improving, both individually and as a group over the off-season and have begun the new season in fine style. I’m convinced that having a lovely new kit and smart training wear has played a huge part in enabling the girls to feel more confident and proud to play for Torquay United CST.
“Women and Girls football is really high profile nationally at the moment, and we are incredibly proud to be providing the opportunity for so many females to play football and get involved in our local area.”
Samuels Solicitors (Kingsbridge branch), have very kindly provided sponsorship for the playing kit, whilst Newton Abbot based company Harrier LLC have generously sponsored the girls training shirts and rain jackets.
Lily-Ann Broom (midfielder, 11) was particularly delighted to receive the new playing kit: “The new kit looks amazing and really makes us feel like a proper team,” said Lily-Ann. “We feel confident when we’re wearing our kit and it helps us have a positive attitude for every match. Wearing the kit gives us a sense of pride in ourselves and makes us stand out.”
With the weather closing in as we enter Autumn, the new training shirts and rain jackets are much-needed additions. “We all really love the new shirts and jackets,” said 11 year-old striker Hannah Bendall. “We were all very excited to put them on for the first time when we got them. Having them makes us all feel more of a team and a lot more confident.”
