FEMALE players from the extensive programme for girls’ football at Torquay United Community Sports Trust (TUCST) recently enjoyed an international experience.
We were joined by 30 enthusiastic young players and their families for a fantastic trip to the iconic Wembley Stadium to form part of a sold-out crowd in savouring the international clash between England Women and Germany Women.
The day started with our coach departing Plainmoor early in the morning and arriving at Wembley to take in the sights and sounds of the national stadium. It was amazing to watch some of the leading female footballers in the world display their talent on such a huge stage before completing an exhausting, and enthralling day, by arriving back in TQ1 in the early hours.
“It was a wonderful moment to see so many happy and excited faces as we arrived at Wembley Stadium,” said TUCST Manager Jamie McInnes.
“We are very proud of the progress we have made in the provision for female footballers, with so many young girls developing their skills and love of the game through the numerous programmes we offer.
“Their commitment and enthusiasm makes it a pleasure for us to coach them. They thoroughly deserved this special experience and we are also very grateful to the parents for the support they have shown to girls’ football at Torquay United. For the participants of the Girls United programme in particular, this opportunity was a deserved reward for their commitment to the project.”
At TUCST, we offer a full range of football opportunities for female players, developing a clear pathway of progress for elite players, as well as an emphasis on enjoyment and interaction.
